Suite Villa Medici

An intimate room with a four poster bed. Laid out before guests, here lies all the history of Rome.

The Villa Medici is one of the highest points of the city, and in ancient times was part of the Gardens of Lucullus. In 1570 Cardinal Ferdinando de Medici restored the villa and its gardens, and they enjoyed their greatest moment of splendour: while the villa was enriched with marble, collections and spectacular façades, the garden became the most elegant walk in the city, and remained so until the advent of Napoleon. Since 1803 it has been the site of the Académie de France, a place revered by important contemporary artists.

Your trip to Rome… starts here!

The colour

The gray-green tone of the walls is taken from the internal surfaces of the building opposite, a precious work of the architect Dori, completed in 1764 for his rich client Marquis Rondinini. The building was then passed down to the Capranica family, the Borghese family, the Odescalchi family until Mount dei Paschi and is the current site of the Ancient Chess Club.

Suite Valadier

This room is dedicated to great architecture: if we cite the name Valadier we have to talk about both Luigi and his son, Giuseppe, goldsmiths, silversmiths, landscape architects and urban planners.
The layout of the Piazza del Popolo was designed by Giuseppe in the Napoleonic period, as was the transformation of the Neoclassical coffee house of Pincio, the reorganisation of access to the Imperial Forum, and the wellknown tower of Ponte Milvio. With private Terrace-

Follow the paths of the precious Valadier family for a tour of wonders!

The colour

Bright green with a touch of ruby red, these colours are dedicated to the gardens but also to the emeralds and other precious stones that the Valadier goldsmiths worked masterfully.

Suite Pincio

Gardens, gardens, gardens and walks. Since ancient times, the vast hilly area of Pincio has been appreciated for its pleasant climate (far from the Tiber and its mosquitoes) and lush parks. Interestingly, it is not one of the seven hills of ancient Rome, despite being one of the most beautiful, since it is located outside of the pomoerium, the sacred walls of the ancient city. The gardens of Pincio were commissioned by Napoleon, who wanted to give back to the Romans an important piece of the city. Today, it remains one of the mostvisited and bestloved places in Rome.

Equipped with a private terrace and connected to the Valadier Suite.

The colour

The intense green of the walls is dedicated to the plants and trees the ancient Romans called the Pincio Collis Hortulorum - the Hill of Gardens.

Suite Ripetta

The Ripetta Suite, named after the street Via di Ripetta, commemorates the ancient port and great river city that Rome represented up until 1800 – a fact that not many people know, and that is often forgotten by Romans, too. The Porto di Ripetta (this diminutive of ‘ripa’ meaning ‘little bank’, which distinguished the port from the ‘great bank’ of the Ripa Grande in Trastevere) was the economic heart of the capital’s businesses. Via di Ripetta was initially named Via Leonina after it was adapted by Pope Leo X but was renamed shortly after.

The suite has a large terrace.

You are in the center of Campo Marzio, near Ara Pacis…
the center of the modern world, and the contemporary one!

The colour

The yellow of the walls is a small triumph of the Romans and is the background to the marble fireplace. The four poster bed is in gray flint, as is the large private terrace, from which you can enjoy a view of the street and a glimpse of the important obelisk of Piazza del Popolo and the dome of Santa Maria dei Miracoli completed by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
